Virtual Reality: Back to life

When Google Arts & Culture added natural history to their online collection, we set out to reimagine what it could be for the next generations. Working with The Natural History Museum in London and the Museum für Naturkunde in Berlin, we created ‘Back to Life in Virtual Reality’ : Two experiences where prehistoric beasts come back to life from museum fossils.

We collaborated with Paleontologists and VFX artists to bring back to life the Rhomaleosaurus, a marine predator that’s been extinct for over 180 million years and one of the tallest dinosaurs that ever lived - the Giraffatitan.

1.2 M people have tried the experiences to date, helping to make the Natural History launch one the most successful ever for Google Arts & Culture.
